The Basic "1 Hand, 1 Nose," or 1H1N picture is self-explanatory. Preferably utilizing one's forefinger (or your pinky finger if the subject is of small stature) you perform a simple insertion while covering the minimum surface area of the face. Generally the nostril closest to you is the best target, but that isn't always the case. An advanced version of the 1H1N consists of inserting your finger into the nostril with an approach from underneath or from behind. The Basic insertion will be a majority of your NDIA nose pictures.
